I am running for mayor because I love Owatonna and want to ensure its future growth while preserving the charm and safety that make this community special. My experience in leadership roles and my long-standing connection to Owatonna have prepared me to serve and lead our city into a prosperous future.

2. What qualifies you to be mayor?

I bring 23 years of experience living and working in Owatonna. Professionally, I’ve advanced from a Facilities Engineer to Corporate Director of Environmental Health and Safety at Daikin Applied, overseeing environmental health, safety, and security. I’ve also managed pretreatment systems for Bosch and its discharge to the Owatonna Wastewater Treatment Plant, ensuring compliance with environmental standards. My experience includes working at the Hammond Sanitary District Wastewater Treatment Facility, giving me firsthand knowledge of public utility operations. Additionally, I’ve been responsible for budgeting and planning for departments like maintenance, facilities, and security at Bosch. This broad range of expertise, combined with my community involvement and educational background, equips me to effectively lead Owatonna.

I envision a balanced approach to growth that maintains Owatonna’s small-town charm while embracing steady, thoughtful development. I’m committed to making sure our city remains safe, vibrant, and family-friendly, with a focus on economic development, infrastructure improvements, and transparent governance.

Owatonna is growing, and with that comes the challenge of managing that growth while preserving what makes our city unique. I’ll work to ensure we’re planning for the future by improving infrastructure, promoting responsible economic development, and ensuring that we grow in a way that keeps Owatonna a safe and welcoming place to live.

11. How does your experience with budgeting and planning prepare you for managing the city’s budget?

Throughout my career, I’ve managed budgets and planned for large departments like maintenance, facilities, and Environmental Health and Safety at major companies. These roles required careful financial planning, resource allocation, and long-term strategic thinking. I’ve also overseen security operations, balancing safety concerns with fiscal responsibility. This experience has prepared me to ensure Owatonna’s budget is used wisely while maintaining the essential services and growth our community needs.

13. How does your experience prepare you to serve as mayor of Owatonna, even though the mayor does not oversee city departments?

While the mayor may not directly manage city departments, my extensive experience in leadership, planning, and community involvement equips me to work collaboratively with the city administrator and City Council to make strategic decisions that benefit Owatonna. As Corporate Director of Environmental Health and Safety, I’ve been responsible for areas like environmental safety, stormwater management, and emergency preparedness, all of which contribute to long-term city planning and sustainability. My experience with budgeting, planning, and compliance ensures I can help guide Owatonna’s financial and developmental priorities, while my involvement in community organizations like the Owatonna Basketball Association and Habitat for Humanity reflects my deep commitment to enhancing the quality of life in our city. As mayor, my role would be to set a vision for Owatonna’s future, ensuring that the needs and concerns of our residents are always front and center, while collaborating with city departments and leadership to bring that vision to life.
